The Crown Inn
Following a successful trial session last Wednesday (22nd March 2017), it has been decided to make it a regular monthly event.
This session will be held on the SECOND Wednesday of each month - starting at 8.00 pm.
First session - Wednesday, 12th April 2017
The Pub
---------
- Old-style traditional pub with wooden floor.
- Small car park at front of pub.
- Friendly and enthusiastic landlady (Jane).
- Friendly locals.
- Real ales at competitive prices.
- Covered (and heated!) smoking shelter.
- A convenient playing area for musicians on a raised platform just beyond the bar.
The Session
------------
The trial session consisted mainly of English tunesets - plus a some Irish and American tunesets and a few songs. The format of future sessions is likely to be similar - but probably depends to some extent as to who turns up.
Re: The Crown Inn
June 2018 - is this session still going? And is the map correct, as it’s showing Keynsham, not Staple Hill

Re: The Crown Inn
@Wurzel This is my new local, I went in this afternoon and confirmed session is still active. Next session is on Wednesday 11th July 2018.
Map works for me - shows correct location in Staple Hill, rather than Keynsham (kay-ee-why-en-ess-aitch-ay-em).
Re: The Crown Inn
Cheers for the updates, and the map appears to be fixed now (although I don’t understand the strange phonetic spelling).
Re: The Crown Inn
I think the “strange phonetic spelling” is a reference to an old advert that used to be played on Radio Luxembourg. It was from a chap called Horace Bachelor who had a system for winning on the football pools. He lived in Keynsham and would spell out the name for the postal address. He died in 1977 but his fame lives on!
