The Black Cat

Advanced (mainly) Irish tunes session, every Sunday afternoon from around 4pm until 7pm. This one has been on the go since Oct 2011.

There are also decent sessions there on Mon, Wed and Thurs nights from 21:30 until 00:30.

They serve excellent craft beer and also have an impressive malt whisky collection.

See you down there for a tune!

Re: The Black Cat

Hi Paul. Is this still running?

Re: The Black Cat

Poked my head in. One fiddler and one guitarist playing mostly Scottish tunes. Listing might need an update!

Re: The Black Cat

Hi Emily, the listing is still accurate. Busy time of year, all the Irish musicians seemed to be away/busy this week (including me!) So you just happened to come in on the one week where Scottish Musicians were playing instead. Usually full-on Irish tunes. Cheers

Re: The Black Cat

I attended a session on a Monday night that was spectacular. The leader, Ciaran Ryan, is a professional musician who tours internationally, and many of the other participants were amazing as well. They were quite welcoming to newcomers.

Re: The Black Cat

PS they were all Irish tunes.

Re: The Black Cat

Just there at the end of March. Lively Thurs. session w/ banjo, 4 fiddles, and banjo/mandolin player. Sessions 3 days per week ( M, W, Th, I believe) music starts 21:30. Great whiskey selection!
