Upstairs from 8 pm. More a class than a session, led by accordionist Ian Lowthian, not unknown to Session regulars. A chance to learn tunes and arrangements with one of the present greats of Borders music. Members also perform as a band, under the name Border Folk.

No longer a session

Tuesday at the Newcastle Arms is now rehearsal night for ceilidh band Border Folk. Ian Lowthian has been offering group tuition on the same night at his studio in nearby Swinton, and anyone interested in learning from one of the contemporary greats of border music should contact him direct for details

Update

Tuesday at the Newcastle Arms is a rehearsal night for the remains of the Border Folk band that broke up some time ago. We are four in number and we’re looking for a fiddle player!

Update

Now Friday afternoons fortnightly at Stichill village hall.
Looking for extra players

Re: Stichill Village Hall

Not quite defunct. We meet at Stichill Village Hall on some Friday afternoons. We are a small. aged Ceilidh band - playing mainly for Over 60’s clubs! It’s not on the village hall Facebook page because the meetings are irregular. New players are welcome. Contact Kelso 470707
