Jika Community Centre in Oldis Gardens

A weekly learning session for beginners, each Friday during the school term, from 10am - 12pm. We learn a tune at a relaxed pace each week, as well as playing through our repertoire of popular tunes from Ireland, Scotland and Quebec. Teaching is done by ear, with sheet music handed out at the end. We also play gigs during the year. The session is perfect for those who have always wanted to play in jam sessions, but find them too fast, or don’t yet know many tunes. The venue is baby/toddler friendly, and we always stop for a cuppa mid-morning! New players always welcome!

Re: Box Hill Community Arts Centre

This session is now on Wednesday evenings at Box Hill Community Arts Centre. Ideal for players who find other sessions around town too fast, or who are just getting into celtic music. We learn a tune each week by ear, and play through our repertoire of tunes we’ve built up together. We also perform regularly. New players always welcome. $10 per session (to cover venue hire).

Re: Box Hill Community Arts Centre

Please note the session now runs in Box Hill, not Northcote. So far, it’s just Wednesday evenings. If there’s enough demand, we can start up a daytime session too. Send me a message if you’d be interested.
