Vauxhall Griffin

Friendly session focussing on Scottish traditional music. Occasional songs, no shaky eggs. We were formerly advertised as a “slow” session but appear to have sped up! We are however still welcoming to beginner and developing musicians and intend to stay that way.

We have a deliberate policy of regularly introducing and learning new tunes; it’s not an especially structured process but occasionally dots get handed out and/or recordings made. The website linked gives some of our repertoire.

Nominal start time is 7pm, key word being nominal. Tunes generally continue until kicking out time (11pm).

Dates are fortnightly - for the foreseeable, we have: 19 Mar 2018, 02 Apr 2018, 16 Apr 2018, 30 Apr 2018, 14 May 2018, 28 May 2018, 11 Jun 2018, 25 Jun 2018, 09 Jul 2018, 23 Jul 2018, 06 Aug 2018, 20 Aug 2018, 03 Sep 2018, 17 Sep 2018, 01 Oct 2018, 15 Oct 2018, 29 Oct 2018, 12 Nov 2018, 26 Nov 2018, 10 Dec 2018

Re: Vauxhall Griffin

Is the ‘Comedy Bingo’ as advertized on the pub website for 8pm Monday 19 March 2018 a separate event or an integrated part of the session?!

Re: Vauxhall Griffin

Depends on the standard of play, I suppose…

Re: Vauxhall Griffin

I should have noted this earlier, so I hope nobody is inconvenienced, but there’s no session tonight due to most of the regular crowd being away for Easter. Next session in two weeks (16th) as normal.

The comedy bingo remains elusive, I am happy to report.

Re: Vauxhall Griffin

And the 16th has duly arrived, as expected, and tonights session will also arrive, as expected, barring Russian intervention.

Re: Vauxhall Griffin

Open for business as usual tonight, despite the bank holiday!

Re: Vauxhall Griffin

7pm(ish) this evening for tunes and assorted nonsense. But no comedy bingo.

Re: Vauxhall Griffin

No more tunes here due to change of management although frankly the arrival of wall to wall televisions does not make this particularly sad news. We’re looking for a new venue and will be road testing them prior to listing it here, but feel free to give me a prod if you’d like to know where we are in the meantime.
