Shower Of Herring

Regular Monday singaround performing for the restaurant diners starting around 8.30pm. Eclectic and welcoming - expect a handful of guitarists singing mostly Scottish folk songs interspersed with the odd crowd-pleasing pop song, plus Scottish reels and airs and other tunes from whatever other instruments turn up (there was harp, fiddle, whistles, harmonicas and mandolins last night).

Re: Shower Of Herring

I think this restaurant has been taken over, not sure if the new management are planning to hold music nights.

Re: Melfort Hotel

Sessions in the Kilmelford area have moved a little south to The Melfort Hotel in Arduaine (pronounced Ardoonie). They are currently taking place twice a month on the first and third Fridays. I haven’t attended yet but sessions in this area are often a mixture of folk song, traditional tunes and some less traditional songs. Re: Culfail Hotel

An amendment to my comment above and to the session location. The Shower of Herring session has actually moved to The Culfail Hotel in Kilmelford, taking place on Tuesday nights, The Melfort Hotel session mentioned in my above comment is a new session and I have added a separate listing for that one. I’m not involved in this session so it may be worth contacting the hotel before travelling to confirm it’s going ahead.
