Grafton Street Open Irish Session

A monthly open Irish music session is starting on May 6, 2019 at the Grafton Street Pub in western Suffolk County. The session will typically run on the first Monday of the month but check the group Facebook page (The Grafton Street Open Irish Session) to confirm dates and times. The session runs from 7:30-10:00pm. A set of experienced players will be present at each session but musicians of ALL levels are welcome. In the tradition of seisiuns, the focus will be on instrumental tunes with some traditional songs mixed in. A starting set of tunes is posted at the Grafton Street Open Irish Session web site but players are free to call whatever Irish tune they like when it’s their turn to lead. We’re happy to have less experienced musicians and students start and lead sets at their own pace. A set of session guidelines is also posted at our web site. The Grafton Street Pub is close to the Long Island Expressway at 1261 Vets Highway, Hauppauge, NY.

Re: Grafton Street Pub

Our first session was a smashing success. I counted twenty musicians - fiddles, whistles, accordions, banjos, and more. Great group of people and the music sounded great. I’m looking forward to June 3, 2019 and the first Monday of each month after that. You can check the session website for more info https://jtmlife.wixsite.com/graftonstreetsession
