Is this still happening?

Yes, we are on every Wednesday, 7pm until 9:30pm, at the Granville Island picnic pavilion covered area. The indoor location remains a backup in case it snows. If the catnap session resumes at Jericho beach, we will join them there. PM me for my contact phone number.

wednesday july 20th we have a special event. a mandolin and fiddle workshop by graham lindsey and maddy o’regan. starting time 5pm, followed by the drop-in celtic music session until 9:30pm. location is the cafe on railspur alley. mandolin and fiddle players are invited. players of other instruments are also welcome. (july 27th we should be back at the regular location, regular time, 7pm covered picnic pavilion).

the fringe festival is upon us (https://www.vancouverfringe.com/festival/?swoof=1&product_tag=granville-island-picnic-pavilion) (everything is a “product” now) and we will move to alternate locations as required: picnic tables as 1370 Cartwright St (good weather) or roofed area across from Espresso bar & Grill Bistro, 1351 Railspur Alley (bad weather).

the fringe festival should be over, and we should be back at the picnic pavilion. weather is still mild, but evening temperatures are dropping and we will likely move back indoors soon.

this is not a beginner session, not a tune learning session, not a slow session and not a play-along led session. it is an open session in a neutral outdoors location. tune circle format. people new to this music and people new to their instrument are welcome, should be able to start a tune and play it all the way through. many regular participants are active Contra, English and Morris dancers and musicians. for best information, PM me, visit our session or ask a regular participant.

Wed June 21st session is at a special location at Kits point.

Coming wed june 21st is the Summer Solstice and we will be joining Vancouver Morris Men for the solstice celebration at Kits point. 7-9pm. this is up the path from Kits beach past the concession, past the beach volleyball courts towards the maritime museum.
