"The German" ~ the long and the short of it…

https://thesession.org/tunes/3371/comments

On their recording "Fidil", Ciarán Ó Maonaigh & Aidan O’Donnell, this is the first tune of two ~

track 6: "If There Weren’t Any Women in the World"

I need to make up for my recent English contributions… 😎

These are two very capable fiddlers, though we found this recording, "Fidil", a disappointment, our opinions, feeling they got a bit lost in the play and disconnected from the grounding of healthy roots… The instinctive reflex didn’t kick in, meaning my feet weren’t tickled by this, and much of it actually irritated me. Having a bit of fun and getting carried away with oneself is fine, but is not something the two of us care to have on a CD, though we might enjoy it in a pub with a pint of the dark stuff and a chaser of Jameson’s Crested Ten… 😏

The long German

Hehe… a good friend of mine is both German and 2.00m tall (6’7" for ye Imperial-ists), so there’s a running joke in Gaoth Dobhair (where folks know him) whenever this tune comes up with him in the room 😉

Correction, missing [1 in B-part immediately above…

2 meters tall, WHEW!!! Getting around must be tough, unless he drives an HGV with a high ceiling…
