Unknown tune

I think I learned this from a Kevin Burke album, but I am not sure. The recording I remember learning from had a distinct reedy sound to it, so it might have been on his album with Jackie Daly, the one that’s not posted here (can’t remember the name, can’t find the album…) But I’m pretty sure it’s not posted here, and although it’s not a typical session tune I am 99% sure I learned it from the playing of Jackie Daly…

Ryan’s

This is an obscure hornpipe from Second Story by Open House, the reedy sound that I remembered is actually a harmonica. It is however very easy and delightful to play.

Ryan’s

I just got this album in the mail, and in the notes it attributes this tune to the Red Clay Ramblers, and American group. I looked up their website and they attribute the tune to Herrick & Buckner, whoever they are. I will find the source for this tune one day!

Ryan’s

Herrick & Buckner are members of the group. So yeah, this tune isn’t traditional.

I like to play this leading down to the first note sometimes. Just a small change, but a good one

Ryan’s, X:4

This is the way I hear it on Second Story, 2nd album by Kevin Burke’s Open House.

Re: Ryan’s

Update on this tune. It was recorded by Winifred Horan in her solo album. Very unusual, as per Winifred. She slows it down, almost waltz like. Anyone interested in this tune should really listen to her rendition. Opens ones ears up to the many ways to feel the notes of any tune.
