I’ve altered your abc because it’s hard to read when there are so many spaces

Paddy on the Landfill

Thanks D.J.F

Have corrected (hopefully before the dots go up)

Here’s how I’d like to see the ABC:

X: 1
T: Paddy On The Landfill
M: 4/4
L: 1/8
R: reel
K: Gdor
G,A,B,D G4 | AGFD GE | F2 AF BFAF | BAGF GFDF |
G2 BG AGBG | F2 AF BFAF | BAGF DFGA | BcAB G4 :|
g2 dg fgdg | /g/g/g dg fdcA | g2 dg fgdg | gabg agfd |
g2 dg fgdg | /g/g/g dg fdcA | BAGF DFGA | BcAB G4 :|

First, bar lines aren’t needed at the beginning of lines. Second, spaces to show the division of beats and give a little breathing room around bar lines. Third, eliminate the space between GE in the second measure so they beam correctly. Fourth, it seems to be in G dorian, so one flat in the key signature and no = needed for the lone E.

Also, the 2nd bar is a couple of notes too short.

Missed the G3 in the corrected original—Sorry!

This is the one I meant to write that Danรบ recorded - I think

Triplets

Muspc, /g/g/g in bars 10 and 13 is not valid abc. Dividers (/) go after, not before notes. So it’s either g/g/g (two 1/16 + one 1/8) or (3ggg (triplet, as in the original).
The second part should start with a left repeat |:. The only place where this is obsolete is the very beginning of a tune.

Yes,

I was just adjusting DJF’s ABCs. Should have noticed the extra / and the missing reapeat. Thanks for pointing those things out, Jurgen! (Although, repeats at the beginning of parts are often left out and the extra slash doesn’t affect conversion in a program like concertina.net)

A final (at least from me!) update:

X: 1

In theaters next March

The Irish Experience’s recording of this tune written by Rob Hayes was licensed for use in "Kill the Irishman" — to be released on March 11, 2011. www.killtheirishman.com

I believe this tune is in the Portland Collection Volume 1 which should have some history
and author listed.
