La Ronde Des Milloraines

This is a very nice tune from Blowzabella’s album “Bobbityshooty”, I think written by Jean Francois Dutertre. I only realised as I was writing it out that the A part is short by a bar, making it a 30 bar tune! It is also played in D major.

Ronde de Miloraine

In their “Encylopaedia Blowzabellica” the tune, as written, has bar 3 and bar 6 set in 9/8 time. And in this version it adds up to 28 bars! Still a great tune, though.

Trouble is, if you write it like that, it puts the emphasis on the wrong beat in the B part. I spent a while listening to Blowzabella’s recording to decide how best to write it to match how it was played. For the A part, I agree the 9/8 works well, but I don’t think it flows into the B part so well with it.
