Thanks for the link Dont. The version I’ve posted seems to have some significant variations from the pdf you can get from Peadar Ó Riada’s site, and it does look like a recent composition.
Recording
The tune can be heard on the album "Triúr Sa Draighean" by Peadar Ó Riada, Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh & Martin Hayes.
Take care to stress the off beats in the 1st part: you could easily end up playing a march…
Geantrai on TG4
This tune was performed, in a set of slides, on TG4’s Geantrai programme on December 12, 2010. The musicians were Aoife and Deirdre Grainbheal, and Una Ni Ghuidhir.
Re: The Rubber Band
"That one was originally called the ‘Rubber Band’ after the rubber band, holding my accordion together, which snapped while we were rehearsing. Caoimhin is mainly responsible for any accordion playing I do. I forgot the name when we were writing the sleeve notes for the last cd and called it ‘Caoimhin’s slide’ but it was originally the ‘Rubber Band’." http://www.peadaroriada.ie/ceol-dem-chuid/the-rubber-bands-brother/3964/
