Farewell To London
THis is a version of a tune by Brendan McGlinchey.
The original, I believe, is four parts and goes as follys:
D2|GB (3BBB c2BA|GABd edBG|AD (3DDD A3c|BcdB cBAF|\
GABG FGAF|GABG ABcA|dg (3ggg fgag|fdcA G2::\
Bc|dg (3ggg fgaf|gdBG DG,B,G,|CGEC B,DGE|FGAB cABc|\

(3ddd ba gafd|gdBG DG,B,G,|CGEC B,DGE|FGAB cABc|\

I can’t remember where I got this, though!
Fun tune, if a bit cerebral.
Did brendan mcglinchy compose this?
A version I got from Milltown 1986

Definitely a McGlinchey tune, though he claimed to have forgotten writing it… got this tune from him in a workshop at the Joe Mooney. Cracking tune.
Apologies to PatrickCavanagh - I’ve basically whipped the text you posted and put line ends on.
Came across a handwritten version of this from a workshop - note for note identical to what had been posted above, but only the first two parts. According to McGlinchey, this is a tune that he’d forgotten he’d written (during his hiatus from playing), and that he only rediscovered when he was asked to go on one of the Comhaltas tours (to Australia, if memory serves) . They’d decided to cut it down to two parts for the purposes of the tour, and that’s the way he’s played it ever since. So, most commonly, this is a two part reel. Anyhow, I’ve stuck with all four parts for the sake of completeness, and of course to keep any B McG purists out there happy.
