The Butterfly Reel
This reel is the 3rd in a set of 4 on the recording "Trian 2". I tried to name it as "The Butterfly Reel", which is what it is called on the CD, but the website software deleted "Reel". This meant that it linked to all recordings of the slip-jig, so I’ve taken the liberty of re-naming it as "Liz Carroll’s Butterfly" to avoid that confusion.
The sleeve notes do not make any mention of who came up with what seems to me to be a re-arrangement of the 9/8 tune.
Sliabh an Oir (aka Tommy Whelan’s)
I know this is Sliabh an Oir from the playing of Mike Rafferty.

The Butterfly Reel
In Mike Rafferty’s second collection (‘Second Wind’), and alternative title is "Tommy Whelan’s", and it appears Mike got the tune from Tommy Whelan and Stephen Moloney of the Ballinakill Band.
A Banjo adaptation
Been messing around with this on the banjo. This is a good approach in the style of Keiran Hanrahan. As far as I know he doesn’t play this. This is just my interpretation of how he might.
