The Cat’s Dance

One of my favourite Highland bagpipe jigs on the whistle, and one which RonP and myself have been playing for several years.
In the 1980s, I used to listen a lot to the piping programme on Radio Scotland, and recorded this tune as played by the “Bessbrook Crimson Arrow” Pipe Band from Northern Ireland. I’ve only ever once come across it again, on a pipe band CD, where the composer was listed as one B.Abbott - [ “Bud” ? ].

I think the composer is Bob Abbott an accordion player from Bathgate, who composed a number of tunes for the pipes but I don’t believe he plays them himself.

Thanks

Thanks for that, Niall. I’d always assumed it to be composed by a piper, possibly from the Bessbrook band, but happy to be corrected.
