The Prince’s Welcome to Inverness

It’s not a Strathspey either. Hopefully rambler gary will tell us where he learned the tune, and any other relevant info before very long.

The Prince’s Welcome to Inverness

To my ears it’s related to an old Scots tune called “Hoch Hey Johnny Lad”, also found as “The Lasses of the Ferry” and “The Lads of Saltcoats”. Lunasa recorded it as “Jerry O’Sullivan’s” (https://thesession.org/tunes/2635). Admittedly, it’s quite far removed, but I hear the common root in both.
