This tune comes from an old collection of New England fiddle music.

Another occurance

this jig also is played in the last track of the Chieftain’s ‘Santiago,’ I think.

"Stepney’s Rant"- "Jackson’s" alternate setting…

Just found this one, appears to be an alternate setting to "Jackson’s Fancy" under the name "Stepney’s Rant". Both parts are fairly similar, with the second down an octave:

X: 1
T: Stepney’s ("Jackson’s Fancy")
C: Trad.
S: The Fiddler’s Tune-Book; Jigs & Quicksteps, Trips & Humours; p.41, No.175.

Re: Jackson’s Fancy

Setting nr. 1 is exactly the same in the Ryan Mammoth Collection (1883).
