This D mixolydian (one sharp, F3) jig is the second of four jigs in the Paul Kelly album, A Mandolin Album
Des Carty’s Jigs: Paddy’s Resource; Gan Ainm; The Girls of Banbridge and Gan Ainm. I’ll post the other three shortly.
Lovely set of unusual jigs. Girls of Banbridge is often played in D, but here it’s played in G
It’s the 1st and 3rd parts of the 3-part version of this https://thesession.org/tunes/4261 (scroll down in comments section)
Yes Henchy is in there but this version goes back to a 78RPM by Tom Ennis and from that is kept in circulation among pipers. I think he called it Walsh’s on the record.
Re: Gan Ainm
Yup, it does seem to be Walsh’s as played by Tom Ennis. I just found it here:
Walsh’s Favorite would be a better name than no name, right?
I learned it from Devin Shepherd, who credited Tom Ennis, but didn’t have a name.
Here’s my attempt to transcribe it—errors are mine, not Devin’s.
