I didn’t put in the composer’s name because I’m not sure. But I imagine it was written by Ossian themselves just for the suite on the album, the theme being Scots travelling to the New World, forced to leave home by economic and political circumstances.
Gorgeous tune, sounds like a Tony Cuffe composition to me.
The Emigrant
This tune was written by William Jackson, not sure of the date, and he acknowledged that the correct name for it IS The Emigrant by personal communication. Our group - Spinning Lily - recorded it on the same-named CD in 2008 and verified the composer as we were "getting our ducks in a row".
Corrected now
Thanks mikeherr I’ve changed that now. It was named At Work On the Land on the album, but I suppose that was more it’s theme. I prefer The Emigrant as a name anyway, rolls off easier.
