Gerhard Heintzman Piano, X:2

Here’s a setting of this grand Joey Beaton reel, as played by the late-and-great Cape Breton fisherman and fiddler Mike MacDougall on his "Tape for Father Hector." It’s the closing reel in a Gmaj set of clogs and hornpipes.

Pianist and composer Joey Beaton hails from quite an illustrious line of Cape Breton musicians — he’s a son of the late Donald Angus Beaton. Among his many accomplishments (not to mention the wonderful tunes he’s composed and shared!), he assisted with the founding of the Cape Breton Fiddlers’ Association and was also responsible for starting up the popular CIGO radio program titled "Highland Fling," which he hosted from 1975 to 1977.
