Hats Off To Dodd
Usually I don’t bother transcribing tunes I learn by ear, but this one is so hypnotic that I kept getting lost as soon as I wasn’t playing along the recording anymore. That’s fixed now that I’ve done the ‘work’ of writing it out, and I figured I’d share it on here.
Here’s the youtube vid I learnt/transcribed it from. The 2nd tune in the set is already in the database here.

Thank you for adding this! Wow, just love the way it seems to round and round on itself. The sort of tune you can play all day - I understand what you mean about the hypnotic quality.
I really like this tune - as I’ve started incorporating irish tunes into Gothic Rock (ala The Cure & Sisters of Mercy) I’ve REALLY wanted to add this - however, finding a drum pattern that gives the right ‘bounce’ for slip jigs is a right ole pain - and coming up with a chord sequence is hard as well.
Ah well - either way I’ll be learning this on the Uilleann pipes (although I’ll have to do it in a different key).
Wow what a great tune!!
Yes, I like this too.
Reminds me of something
I too like this tune. It’s not one I’ve played, but I’ve heard it somewhere and thought "Ooh! That’s nice!"
Does anybody else think it’s similar to "Wink and She’ll Follow You"? (One of my favourite tunes.)
