John Carmichaels Farewell To Scotland

I like this tune, and I saw that Ando has requested it recently, so I sat down to notate it. It’s in the style of a 2/4 pipe march, but I have put it into 4/4 for ease of reading.

It was composed by Ian Rankin in the 1960s when fellow piano accordionist John Carmichael emigrated to Australia, and this version is as played by the late fiddler Ian Powrie on his 1967 LP “Ian Powrie’s Farewell to Scotland” (he too left for the Antipodes at that time). John Carmichael stayed four or five years before returning to his homeland, and he has been delighting with his musical activities since.
