Lament for Frankie

I’ve submitted this effort in F although the original composition is in Bb.
It’s such a free moving Air that it’s impossible to reflect it in abc.
However, it’s a base to start from and express as you see fit.

Hope you enjoy this beautiful piece by the hugely talented Seamus Egan and Winifred Horan.

Feel free to transpose into Bb if preferred 🙂 (it does sound better lower down)

Eb sorry - Original key is Eb played on a Bb flute.

You might also want to adjust the L field to 1/4 not 1/8.

Re: Lament For Frankie

The site doesn’t seem to allow for tunes submitted in Eb - so here’s the ABC for how Solas play it:

The melody is played first by Seamus Eagan on a Bb flute (D fingering as if the tune was in G as per JACKB’s post).

Second time through it is played by Winifred Horan on violin (sorry "fiddle") with some variation of the second part

Finally the two play together

It’s a really good tune - get Solas’s first album to hear it

Or played live

Violin first (with piano - which if anything detracts from the tune)

Lament For Frankie, X:3

Solas version - but in G with D flute in mind - not different content to JACKB’s version - just slightly simplified ABC
