The Silver Tassie barndance

I’m pretty certain this is based on a tune used for the Burns song which he called "My Bonnie Mary", and often called "The Silver Tassie". It starts "Go fetch to me a pint o’ wine, An’ fill it in a silver tassie; That I may drink before I go, A service to my bonnie lassie…" As in many of his songs, Burns used a fragment of an older song and expanded/improved it. I’ll add a version of the tune as it was printed in Johnson’s Musical Museum, a remarkable collection of songs to which Burns contributed greatly.

The third setting above is how it is very often sung in the present era. You might listen to renditions of the song by Emily Smith, Archie Fisher, Jean Redpath, Alistair MacDonald. For versions using the other air (setting 2 above), The Corries or Rod Paterson.
