A Newfoundland tune. It has the feel of a slide to my ear, but as I understand that the Newfoundlanders know it as a jig, that’s how I’ve submitted it here. If you prefer it notated as a slide, just alter the time sig. and knock out alternate bar lines.
There seems to be several variants of the tune - the version that I know approximates fairly closely to the one that these guys are playing:
Lovely Mix, yes, definitely the nature of a ‘single jig’ and in this case with that 12/8 phrase feel, making a brilliant slide… Notating themas 12/8 to emphasize that phrasing is a relatively new thing. Thanks for this bit of jolly, the tune and the music on the other side of the link were enjoyed…
With those long holds on notes it has a bit of the feel of a quickstep about it…

It’s a great tune, and begs to be danced to with a sashay or two, and would work nicely for a few single jig dances I know and like…
Nice tune. It sounds English in origin - I’m sure I’ve heard it in a melodeon-infested English session somewhere, but with a different second part (or I might be confusing it with another tune). The alternative B-part goes something like this:
