This reel comes from the duet playing of Jesse Smith and Colm Gannon. I thought it’s a version of Reel of Bogie: https://thesession.org/tunes/3307 But it’s turned out to be Sligo fiddler Michael Gorman’s composition.
I’d appreciate if someone informs us of the naming of the tune.
Somewhere, I think on Folktrax cassette "Michael Gorman, Techniques of a Sligo Fiddler" I have heard a tale of playing a tune when the host had put some cabbage on to boil and forgetting it until smoke came under the kitchen door. So they called the tune The Burnt Cabbage.
Reminds me of Tie the Ribbons https://thesession.org/tunes/2572
I suspect that this is a reel verion of Siud Mar Chaidh An Cal A Dholaigdh transposed to Em.Related to Haughs of Cromdale etc.
Thanks David for the info.
This tune is actually a relatively new composition, but it sounds like a composite of older tunes or melodies.
