Francis Beaton’s Reel

Composed by Donald Angus Beaton, this reel is transcribed from the playing of Cape Breton fiddler Buddy MacMaster on his ‘The Judique Flyer’ album. MacMaster’s rendering is very close to the published version.

Donald Angus Beaton Appreciation Week!

🙂 I love it. I’ve got a 4-part single reel of his to add tomorrow.

It seems I submitted the march past the allotted time allowance for a day. I think it’s 3 p.m. to 3 p.m. and I must have missed it when I was preparing a roast dinner, a lovely free range corn fed chicken with roast veggies and gravy. Damn! I just realized I’d forgotten the tomatoes. Now to settle down to a South African cider. I didn’t know they grew apples in South Africa, let alone for cider… 😀

Re: Francis Beaton’s

This setting is pretty much what Angus himself plays but without the 2 f#s, beats 3 & 4 in bar 7.
