This is one nice reel.
Craig, you submitted this tune, did you also compose it? If so, you’ve done a great job.
Yes, I composed this tune and it is meant to be sad and yearning
as it is about a real parting of company. Angela from Aran Island Co. Donegal was a most convivial host and manager down our pub. She had to leave to take up another post and I wrote the tune the very night she left. The slight highlandish feel is deliberate.
Thanks for the kind comments, enjoy
I see what you mean about the highlandish feel - those triplets give the tune a nice "Scottish snap".
I’ve added this one to my tunebook.
I was just shown this tune. I wrote a tune also called The Parting which I recorded on my Windy Day CD about 10 or 15 years ago. I have received emails lately where people are confused as to the authorship of The Parting. The truth is that these are two different tunes with the same name. Nice to have a chance to hear such a nice tune. Mine also is supposed to be slow and yearning. I will post it when I get a moment.
