Tune by Aidan O’Rourke dedicated to border fiddle player Lori Watson. It’s the opening track on KAN’s album Sleeper, played in Bb (no option for Bb tune here on The Session…) so play on Bb whistle:)
One of my (many) favourite tunes on the album…
In the B part, third bar, the second pair of "BA" is played with the B shorter and the A longer i.e with a "less than" symbol between them. For some reason any time I include a "less than" symbol (either in the abc or the text here), everything after it gets deleted….mysterious.
Anyway, enjoy.
Lori in Bb
You can outwit The Session by simply adding K: Bbmaj to your ABC.
However, being notated in D it’s actually much more comfortable to read (for whistle, at least).
Play on a Bb whistle - check!
Thanks for transcribing the tune :) love kan cant wait for another cd

The ‘less than’ symbol, we had the problem with the old website, and eventually it was corrected. We can but hope the same will happen here…
What key whistle does Brian use when playing this - I see that some folks advise playing this on a Bb, but I’d be interested in what key whistle is the correct one.
Cheers.

He plays it on a Bb whistle on Sleeper by Kan.
In it’s original key of Bb (OK, Cdor to get the right number of flats in the sheet music).
Also in Amaj, for fiddlers, as Aidan probably plays it on a tuned-up fiddle.
