Three comments

The Cross

Rather surprised that this hasn’t been put on here yet. A lovely bent Shetland reel from the Boys of the Lough “The Day Dawn”. Aly Bain also played it on, I think, the latest Transatlantic Session series with Nollaig Casey in a set with Lois na Banríona. Lovely set too, with the slow, lyrical tune first, followed by the what I can only call bent-up reel. Mighty craic.

I hear the first bar as fage d2 d2 - maybe with a double stop on the F#. I first heard it on a recording of Aly Bain, Tom Anderson and Davy Tulloch (not sure whether Tulloch is playing on that track, though).
