I believe Claire McLaughlin is a fiddler from Glasgow, second generation Irish. She’s concertina player Simon Thoumire’s wife.

Clare also plays in the very excellent band, Deaf Shepherd, who also recorded this tune. Or at least she does when they play. They have been rather quiet in recent years.

I am not certain but I think this tune was originally in A.

She does indeed. A great fiddler and lovely person. I think she learnt through St Roch’s. (It is Clare though not Claire).

I think the band are all busy with other things whether that is family life or other musical avenues. They also live quite far apart including at least one member in the Isle of Man.
