Marcel Martin reel

I first heard this tune being played by my friend Kendall on PA a couple nights ago, whilst at a great festival session. This tune has almost immediately become my new favorite.

Written by William Welling, whom I’ve not found much info on as of yet, but it’s been recorded by Rodney Miller and Fullsceilidh Spelemannslag among others. I imagine it to be an easy tune to mess up, with those crazy high notes, but it’s just so happy!

Such a happy tune - always makes me smile. This is my attempt at setting out the Fullsceilidh version mentioned by JosephC.

Will (William) Welling is the author of this tune. He is a Connecticut contra dance fiddler and the tune can be found in his 1985 tune book “Fiddler’s Leaves”. The tune itself is dated 1978. The name of the tune is “Marcel Martin”. (NOT “Marcelle”).
