Down the Meadow (reel)

A reel associated with John McKenna.

I first tried to transcribe this tune a couple of years ago from James Carty’s “Upon My Soul,” one of my favourite solo flute recordings. I really love his rendition of the tune, but it’s not easy to learn it from his playing mostly because he overblows quite a few notes, perhaps emulating John McKenna’s style.

This transcription of the tune is mostly based on Cormac Cannon and Lamond Gillespie’s pipes and fiddle duet playing heard on “The Rolling Waves.”

I suspect they also picked up the tune from the same source, John McKenna.
