The Glens Of Leitrim has been added to 8 tunebooks.
I first heard this tune in the sessions around Drumshanbo, Co. Leitrim. I asked one of the locals about it and she said that it was a very old tune, that she had often remembered hearing it when she was young and that the story goes that it was played out over Lough Allen one night where it was picked up over the other side of the lake and played back! Over the lake!! That it was passed on from there and now you can hear it all around the Glens of Leitrim.
Oh By the way, every crochet followed by a quaver is either a roll or a cran. the dotted crochets are long notes 🙂
And there is a “Bcd” triplet in the second bar of the second part. Enjoy!
And all the C’s are C Sharps too I think. I’m pretty sure thats about right. If any one has any other settings of this tune please post. All the best, Slan anois.
… you could change the key to E dorian.
Thanks for sharing the tune and the story of how it was spread!
🙂
