Lovely tune I heard on Fiddler’s Bid’s Album ‘Da Farder Ben Welcomer’. No idea who wrote it or anything like that, would love to know though.
Thanks for posting - I like this tune a lot too. There’s a version of the tune by Shetland band “Drop the Box” on their 1998 CD “Honeytrap” (Kevin Henderson of Fiddlers’ Bid is the fiddler in the band on the recording). According to the sleeve notes, the CD is dedicated to “Michael Ferrie, 1975 - 1996” (an original member of Fiddlers’ Bid, I think) and he is credited as the composer of this tune. The CD also features this MF composition https://thesession.org/tunes/2898 I’ve always wondered if the tune name was a nod to Simon Jeffes’ “Music for a Found Harmonium” https://thesession.org/tunes/346 - another tune I like but one which folk seem either to love or hate 🙂
Thanks Lottie, that’s intereting, and now I have a new CD to listen to :D
