Alnwick Feast

This tune comes from a transcription by Northumbrian fiddler and dancer Bryan Jackson that I found in a 2012 article in EDS magazine while browsing the shelves of academic journals at my university. This comes from the 1808 tune book of fiddle player William Darling. He and his daughter, Grace, single handedly rescued sailors from the wreck of the Forfarshire in 1838 off the Northumbrian coast. Grace, 19 at the time, became famous for her part in the rescue. Today there is a Grace Darling Museum in Bamburgh where her father’s tune book is displayed.
