“Gig Harbor” ~ a jig composed by fiddler Frank Ferrell

X: 1 ~ First as found, and here’s more on this tune.

There’s a great MP3 on this site of an ‘old’ recording featuring Frank’s fiddling with Graham Townsend tinkling the ivories, WOW! 😉

Prepare yourself for a problem bit of audio on opening their home page, OUCH! No doubt Dumbek… 😛 To save your ears quickly click on the play bar in the upper right hand corner to stop it… Otherwise an interesting site full of passion and hope…

Frank Ferrel composed this tune in 1973, naming it after the small Pacific Northwest fishing village in Washington state where his grandparents homesteaded. The recording that he provides for us here is, he says, “from my very first album with the late Graham Townsend on piano, a Canadian fiddle legend in his own right. The second tune is The Fort Gary Jig, composed, I believe, by Max Sexsmith, a western Canadian fiddler from years ago.”

Ahhhh, sweet music and great seafood, I know the place well… 😉 We’ve also had the pleasure of dancing to Frank’s bow…
