Nellie Your Favour I’m Afraid I’ll Not Gain hornpipe

This is from a recording by Peter Carberry, Angelina Carberry and John Blake called: Memories From The Holla

I transposed it from Eb Dor to D dor.

It’s also played by Ciaran Somers and Dave Sheridan on Faoi Bhláth. They title it "Nellie, I’m Afraid Your Favour I’ll Not Gain."

Is there any sheet music for this tune where the notes do not go below D? My flute can’t go any lower (^_^).

The setting in one of the P.W. Joyce books has it as starting on the E note, a fifth up from the versions shown here. if you are able to read the sheetmusic I’m guessing it would be fairly handy for you to do the required transposition.

You could also try it in G dorian. The 3rd is omitted, so there’s no need for any b flats.

I play it in E dor these days.
