“Joe Burke’s Polka” C: Jackie Daly

This could easily be called “A Polka for Joe Burke”, as the tale goes that Jackie composed this for Joe as a bit of a chuckle, Joe supposedly having a strong dislike for polkas. I’ve yet to confirm whether any of this is true or not, and I haven’t recently had the opportunity to ask Jackie or Joe. If any of you do find yourselves in their company, please ask. 😉

This also goes nicely in G, D and C…

S: Jackie Daly

This transcription is taken from the composer’s own playing of it…

Joe Burke’s Polka

Jackie Daly taught a class at Catskills Irish Arts Week where he told of writing this polka to kid Joe Burke.

Joe Burke squeezin’ out polkas?

Thanks Hugh, confirmation appreciated… It must be a pain, if Joe really does dislike polkas, to have folks requesting them from time to time.

Here’s a task and a question related to this, I can’t think of one recording Joe has ever done of a polka. He has recorded just about everything else, except it seems polkas, and highland flings too? If he has, please let us know.
