Mike Sullivan’s

This is a very nice tune, hornpipe or fling, and quite an old one as well. Johnny O‘Leary and Denis Murphy played this for Seamus Ennis (X:2) and my great grandfather played a similar version of it himself. The first hornpipe in both sets is the Rose of Drishane (https://thesession.org/tunes/2844), a reference to the castle near Millstreet, which my great-great-grandmother used to play. She claimed she gave it to Tom Billy but that’s hardly fact checked. Johnny O’Leary plays this in a more stacato style than usual and of course it’s lovely stuff.

Re: Mike Sullivan’s

The first part is very similar to Madame Bonaparte (2344), I feel.
