The Keelman’s Petition
A tune that was played at our last night’s session (held at the Ship Inn, Lower Park Row, Bristol, England).
I discovered subsequently that it’s from the William Vickers MS (1770) and that it has been recorded by Dave Swarbrick on his album: “It Suits Me Well”
I can’t find that particular recording listed on session.org, so there’s a little task for someone to do … ;-)
Also recorded by Alistair Anderson on his album "Corby Crag" (Topic Records - 1977)
I can’t find that particular recording listed on session.org either …
… So another a little task for someone to do … ;-)
Added Corby Crag: https://thesession.org/recordings/4586
Thanks Ben - you’re a star!
… just need another volunteer now to post the Dave Swarbrick recording details … ;-)
Mix, this tune is on Swarb’s album Flittin’ - https://thesession.org/recordings/2331
Thank you, DaveL335 - it’s all down to the various odd spellings of the word "petition".
I’ve added another alternate spelling of the title and the recording is now showing … :-)
… but I also think that it’s also on Dave Swarbrick’s album: “It Suits Me Well” - so we still need someone to post the details of that.
It Suits Me Well is apparently a compilation album; I think all the material on it will be on recordings that are already posted.
Sorry, my above post is not quite correct, there is also some additional live material.
@DaveL335: If you have the details of the recording it would be useful to post it. :-)
(Compilation albums are often easier to obtain than originals, so it’s useful to know that they acutally exist).
You can Google it just as easily as I can.
