The Dunboyne Straw Plaiters

From the playing of Colm Gannon and Jesse Smith, who dug out this tune from P. W. Joyce’s "Old Irish Folk Music and Songs" (1909). Listen to them play it:

It’s actually a version of The Holy Land: But I believe it is quite different from the better-known version and deserves a separate entry.

The Dunboyne Straw Plaiters

This X: 1 setting is almost identical as the version published in P.W. Joyce’s Old Irish Music and Songs (1909), vol. 1, p. 165, No. 358.
Joyce wrote that “The name points to a vanished local industry of Dunboyne, Co. Meath.”
