The Gaelic Farmer

“The Gaelic Farmer” is on the “Irish Dreams 2” album by Alisha Jones, et al. It sounds a bit like “An Ghaoth Aneas (The South Wind).” So much so, I’m working a medley of the two tunes. Anyone know anything about “The Gaelic Farmer”? The CD notes don’t list an author and a google of the title just turns up an Amazon listing for the album. I learned the tune by ear off the CD; I’ll post the ABCs of how I hear it after a bit.

tune is missing

I only heard a few notes.

The Gaelic Farmer

This version shouldn’t be too hard to learn but just a few more notes might make it sound better.

Sorry for not posting the tune earlier. I didn’t understand how The Session’s software works. The ABCs are posted now. Enjoy.

OK, I guess I still don’t understand The Session’s handling of ABCs. The default note length for my transcription is L=1/4, not 1/8 as shown above. The Session will let me edit the body of the file but not the headers. Soooooo, you can either live with sheet music for a waltz in 3/8 time or copy the text, edit L=1/4 into the headers then paste the text into your favorite ABC converter. Ah well, it’s only one tune, plenty more out there.

Thank you for fixing this up. It’s very pretty.
