I’m not sure where I got this tune, but I couldn’t find it on the data base. I like the pulse of it.
Re: Dan From Liverpool
This tune is played on Charle Lennon’s album ‘Time for a tune’ in a set called the Liverpool reels.
Re: Dan From Liverpool
I can make a good guess where JACKB got this from. Apart from 1 single note, it is identical to a transcription of this Charlie Lennon -composed reel posted on the internet 19 years ago by Devin McCabe.
This is one of Charlie Lennon’s compositions, which I just learned from a friend of mine. I love this playful and witty melody! Lennon composed a 2nd Liverpool reel which I don’t play yet and for which I have no recordings (but I know you can find them somewhere). The Liverpool no. 1 has been recorded by Pat McCabe on his album "Round the Roads".
Re: The Liverpool
Posted here already as "Dan From Liverpool". I left a comment on it just a week ago. https://thesession.org/tunes/13585
Also, I do have sheet music for the 2nd "Liverpool" reel somewhere. I’ll try to find it.
Re: Dan From Liverpool
I’m afraid that bars 1, 2 and 15 should be like this
FGAG F ~A3 | EFGF E ~G3 |
f ~d3 dfaf |
or
FGAG FA ~A2 | EFGF EG ~G2 |
fd ~d2 dfaf |
Re: Dan From Liverpool
Yes, you’re absolutely right, I mistakenly added a beat in those bars… I don’t know if there’s a way to edit the ABC.
Re: Dan From Liverpool
There, I fixed it; thanks to DonaldK I was able to find the hidden "edit" button!
Re: Dan From Liverpool
The actual name of this tune, ie the one given by the composer, is The Liverpool reel #1 (in Charlie Lennon Musical Memories vol.2). No mention of a "Dan".
I corrected that.
