This is a radio 3 recording made in the Seychelles as part of their excellent project for the Commonwealth Games. Its more of a two-step than a jig The band were very enthusiastic and the repeats were not regular, so I’ve had to make some editiorial decisions as to what constitutes a part and what constitutes a variation. 48bar jigs are enormously useful for ceilidhs and although the tune is rather simle, I hope people will find it jolly enough to be useful. It was broadcast on Radio Scotland’s Traveling Folk on Sunday last. so if you are quick you could still catch it on the iplayer.
i have since discovered that I noted the third and fifth bars of the c part incorrectly, which is a shame as their syncopation elevates this tune out of the mundane.
