Schottische Kerlou

Written by the flute player Calum Stewart, and played by him & Heikki Bourgault on their CD Hunter’s Moon. I’ve been meaning to write it down for a while and was surprised it’s not transcribed on thesession already, so here it is!

Schottishe Kerlou, X:2

Here is a version in A major, the original key of the tune and how Calum plays it 🙂

Re: Schottische Kerlou

Or, as it would seem, how he plays it on the pipes rather than the flute!

Re: Schottishe Kerlou

"A major, the original key". No it’s not. I’ve just played along with the "original" version on "Hunter’s Moon". It’s in "G". It’s also played in "G" in the video above

Re: Schottische Kerlou

Yes, I’ve seen I’ve made a mistake, sorry! But it’s not possible to edit my comment. Nonetheless I did come here after finding a recording of him playing in A on the Uilleann pipes.

Re: Schottishe Kerlou

He does play it in both. Recorded on Hunter’s Moon in Gmaj and now usually in Amaj on the pipes. He taught the tune to me in a workshop on the pipes in Amaj.
