Martina’s No 1
First of a set of 3 polkas. Played in Melbourne at Comhaltus and the slow sessions at the Corkman.
Martina’s Polka No 1
It’s quite like "Danny Green’s Polka" https://thesession.org/tunes/13237. Billy Clifford recorded it under this title);
"Darby’s Cross" - Julia Clifford recorded it under this title.
and "John Egan’s" in Bulmer & Shapley Vol.4, No.74;
and "Scartaglen Polka" in Johnny O’Leary’s collection. Denis Murphy has recorded it under this title;
and an untitled polka in CRE2 (No.109) from Laurence McDonagh, flute player from Ballinafad, County Sligo.
The "A" part is very similar to this tune:
Martina’s No 1, 2 & 3
In Melbourne this is played with Bill Sullivan’s (tune 481) which we know as Martina’s Polka No. 2. What we call Martina’s No 3 is Sean McGovern’s Polka (tune 7097).
