Green Grow The Rushes - O (Newfoundland)

A very distant relative of the Irish and other European versions, from the Newfoundland accordion player Minnie White. It got lots of precise turns and a strong “snap” to it.

Its an earworm from from Liz Giddings & Roger Digby’s CD ‘The Passing Moment’.

‘snap’?

If in fact this has ‘snap’ to it, there’s no place in your notation where you clearly show that? There is an odd count in bar 2 of the B-part of the tune which you might have intended to notate as that? ~
| g>gga2 f/e/d e>f | = 9/8 It doesn’t add up. Did you mean for that to be the only ‘snap’ in this transcription? i.e.:
| g>gg<a f/e/d e>f | = 8/8
I’ll have to see if I can get an ear full of this take on it, with interest, having some roots in the Canadian Maritimes, including Newfoundland.
