Swallowtail Coat

I learned this tune many years ago from a book published in the 1940s. The book was "Traditional Music In America" and the author was Ira Ford. The tune sounds old and English to me — perhaps Northumbrian? Anyone recognize it?

Swallowtail Coat

This shows up in Ryan’s Mammoth Collection as Prince Albert’s Hornpipe. I’ve always liked that Ira Ford book, but I wish he had more notes on his sources.

Thanks, Boots! I knew I’d encountered the tune somewhere.
